Apply for a passport at a participating Nedbank branch


Go to the e-Home Affairs website at https://ehome.dha.gov.za/ehomeaffairsv3 to register your profile, or log in with an existing profile and follow the steps below:

  1. Create or continue an existing application.
  2. Complete the online form.
  3. Upload the necessary documents.
  4. Pay online with Nedbank.

    To pay online, you must have your profile number, which you can find by logging in to the Nedbank Money app or Online Banking.

    On the Nedbank Money app, you will find the option at the top of the screen under More.

    When using Online Banking, click on your initials at the top right-hand side of the screen. You will be asked to enter a bank user ID. For Nedbank, it is '1'.

    To release the payment, log in to the Nedbank Money app or Online Banking, go to Pay, select Government payments, and select the payment you want to complete. The amount and reference details will be prepopulated.

  5. Choose a date and a participating Nedbank branch for your physical appointment.

    You must physically go to the selected Nedbank branch on this date to capture your biometrics. Bring your booking confirmation and ID with you. Your fingerprints will be scanned and a photo will be taken.

    The requirements are different for children under 18. Please consult the Department of Home Affairs' website for more information.

  6. Once your passport is ready, you will receive an SMS, and you can collect it from the branch you chose.

Setting cards for international use

Notify us of your travel dates to ensure your international transactions are not blocked. Use the Nedbank Money app or Online Banking, select Cards from the menu and select Use card overseas for the card(s) you want to use while travelling.

Local airport lounge access

 

Unlimited access to Bidvest Premier Lounges

When you travel locally or depart from South Africa, you can access Bidvest Premier airport lounges by swiping any of your Private Clients Banking cards. Your spouse can also use their secondary card to enjoy the same lounge access.

 

Lounge access for children


Children qualify for 4 Bidvest Premier airport lounge visits per calendar year if they meet the following criteria:

  • They must have an active MiGoals4kids account with an active debit card.
  • Cards must be issued at least 48 hours before travel.

  • Children under the age of 2 has free access.

 

Additional lounges at international terminals


In addition to Bidvest Premier lounges, the following 3 airport lounges are accessible at the international terminals of OR Tambo (Johannesburg) and King Shaka (Durban):


  • Mashonzha Lounge (OR Tambo)

  • Shongololo Lounge (OR Tambo)

  • Umphafa Lounge (King Shaka)



Only 1 lounge guest is allowed per visit. 

Please note that this guest benefit is for the above 3 lounges only. Bidvest lounges do not include a guest benefit. 

 

Ensure your card is active well before visiting a lounge

If you freeze and then unfreeze your card, the update may not reflect immediately with lounge partners. This can result in denied access during the 48 hours required for the update. 

 

International lounge visits

 

To access any of the 1 300 DragonPass lounges worldwide, you must be registered on the Visa Airport Companion app. 

 

Follow these steps to enjoy airport lounge access outside of South Africa:

  • Download the Visa Airport Companion app from your app store. 
  • Register your Private Clients Visa Signature debit or credit card details and access will be immediate. 
  • Use the app to check which lounge is available at the airport you are travelling through and where it is located.
  • To enter the lounge and for your guest access, log in to the app, generate a QR code and present it at reception. You do not need wifi to log in to the app or to generate a QR code.
  • The guest benefit is not available when you swipe your card to access the lounge. To access the complimentary guest benefit, you must use the Visa Airport Companion app.

 

Please also note the following:

  • If you receive a renewal or replacement card, you will need to update your new card details on the app to get access.
  • Secondary cardholders must follow the same process to get access, ie download and register their card on the app.
  • If you have more than 1 Visa Signature card in your name, you can add them all onto the app. 
  • If your lounge visit does not meet your satisfaction, you can log your experience via the app for feedback.
  • You can review the terms and conditions on the app.

Travel insurance

You and your family automatically qualify for emergency medical cover when you pay for your flights with your Private Clients Visa Signature Credit or Cheque Card or American Express® Card. To qualify, you must buy your tickets online or swipe your card at the airport or with a travel agent. Electronic transfers do not qualify for travel insurance.

 

What you get

Visa Infinite cards: US$750 000 million cover for South African residents under the age of 85.

American Express Cards: R3 million cover for qualifying individuals between the ages of 3 months and 74 years.

How to download your travel insurance policy or terms and conditions

Option 1: Download the Visa Airport Companion app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store (search for Visa Airport Companion) and follow the instructions to register.   •  Go to  http://www.insurancecemea.com.
  • Log in using your 16-digit card number.
  •  Select Certificate of Insurance or Terms and Conditions.
  • The certificate contains your policy number. The rest of the form is a blank, fillable PDF form you need to download and complete.

  • For your Private Clients American Express® Card, select the Nedbank logo. 
  • Follow the steps and provide all the required information.
  • You will receive an email with your policy documents.

To purchase optional top-up cover

  • Go to https://travelinsurance.brytesa.com/.
  • Select your top-up cover options and click continue. Pay for the top-up cover.
  • You will receive an email with your policy documents.
